Support Triangle Recovery and Stabilization after COVID-19 This #GivingTuesday
The Tuesday after Thanksgiving isn’t just another day to enjoy leftovers, it’s also a chance to break from the consumerism of holiday shopping by celebrating the only annual holiday dedicated to giving back where it’s needed most.
Started eight years ago, #GivingTuesday has become a global celebration of charitable giving that harnesses the power of social media to spread real change in communities all over the world. It’s estimated that Giving Tuesday has raised a total of $1.5B in online and offline donations since the inaugural day in 2012.
This #GivingTuesday, United Way of the Greater Triangle has a goal of raising $5,000 to support community recovery and stabilization after COVID-19. Because while this pandemic won’t last forever, our communities must. You can be a part of it.
Here’s how you can donate to support United Way of the Greater Triangle’s community recovery and stabilization efforts on Tuesday, December 1:
- Online at www.unitedwaytriangle.org/giving-tuesday
- Spread the word on social media using hashtag #GivingTuesday and tagging @UWTriangle
You’re also invited to join an exclusive Tuesday edition of United Way’s popular Unwrapped series. From supporting students and families with critical resources to preventing homelessness as a result of job loss and so much more, nonprofits have played a critical role in supporting the Triangle throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. But the challenges are far from over and we’ll be speaking to two nonprofit partners — Community Empowerment Fund and Durham Children’s Initiative — who know that well. This lunchtime virtual event is free but space is limited! RSVP now >
