Coastal Credit Union Foundation Helps Raise $1M+ For Housing Accessibility
Big challenges, like affordable housing, require big solutions. That’s why Band Together and United Way of the Greater Triangle announced today that they are teaming up with Coastal Credit Union Foundation to ensure the Triangle can be a home for everyone. With a generous $100,000 donation, the Raleigh-based foundation has been named the Community Champion of Band Together’s Mighty Giveback benefit concert happening on October 28 at Red Hat Amphitheater.
Coastal Credit Union Foundation will be the presenting partner of the Mighty Giveback, a fundraising event that will benefit 11 Triangle nonprofits focused on housing accessibility. The full list of nonprofit partners is: CASA, Community Empowerment Fund, EMPOWERment Inc., Families Together, Habitat for Humanity of Durham, Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, Habitat for Humanity of Wake County, Hope Renovations, Housing for New Hope, InterAct, and Passage Home. “Access to affordable housing has been a growing issue over the past several years, and will continue to be at the forefront as population growth outpaces available housing supply, and property values continue to escalate,” said Creighton Blackwell, Coastal’s Chief Community and Public Affairs Officer and foundation board chair. “With so many organizations approaching us serving similar but major community needs, we felt the need to step up and help in a big way.”
This is the third year that Band Together and United Way are partnering to support Triangle nonprofits working overtime to support our neighbors in need. Since 2020, the two organizations have raised more than $600K to support local anti-racism efforts and more than $1M for COVID-19 recovery.
“Collaboration is a powerful thing for our community and we couldn’t be more thankful to have the partnership of Coastal Credit Union Foundation in our accessible housing campaign,” stated Thorne Daubenspeck, Executive Director of Band Together. “Coastal Credit Union Foundation is focused on making a lasting impact for individuals and families in the Triangle. Their continued support and partnership are what keep the community thriving for years to come.”
Please join Band Together, United Way of the Greater Triangle, and Coastal Credit Union Foundation in raising over $1 million to support the housing accessibility in the Triangle. Ticket sales, individual donations and corporate sponsorships to the Mighty Giveback will directly support the most impactful nonprofits in the Triangle who are at the frontlines of our community’s housing crisis.
