Here’s what you can do to get prepared now:

  • Sign up for regular alerts: Text NCDORIAN to 898211 to sign up for NC 2-1-1’s emergency text message alerts. You’ll receive the latest updates on storm related evacuation, shelters, and services available to anyone impacted.
  • Stay informed: Download the free ReadyNC app and receive real-time information on current weather and traffic conditions in your region, open shelters near you, where to report power outages, and more.
  • Make a plan: The NC Department of Public Safety and Emergency Management has tools to help state residents plan for natural disasters. Through their website, you’ll find more information on creating emergency plans and what to pack in your emergency kit.
  • Know where to go for help: Should Hurricane Dorian affect you and your family, NC 2-1-1 has services to help. Their custom search feature allows you to find help and resources close to home.
