United Way of the Greater Triangle Celebrates 2018 Workplace Fundraising Efforts at Annual Campaign Lunch Celebration

When Enterprise Holdings kicked off its 2018 Workplace Giving Campaign for United Way of the Greater Triangle, campaign committee leaders set a lofty goal of raising $93,000.

Just 30 days later, the small team of committed employees had worked hard and surpassed their fundraising goal by 52%.

They didn’t just raise a total of $142,000, they put significant effort into supporting United Way’s mission of eradicating poverty through the power of partnerships and raised more than $60,000 more than the previous year.

That is worth celebrating. And we did!

Enterprise represents just one of 300 total organizations that participated in United Way’s workplace giving campaigns last year.

On Thursday, Aug. 8, more than 120 representatives of those companies celebrated all of the past year’s fundraising achievements at the Campaign Lunch Celebration. To see more photos from the event, click here.

But the day was about more than just celebrating the impact that their fundraising efforts will have on our neighbors in the Greater Triangle, it was an opportunity to dive into the power of partnerships and celebrate the shared vision and impact we all have for the four-county region.

“Poverty is a complicated issue and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Breaking those cycles of poverty and building opportunities requires the time, energy, expertise, and commitment of many, and there is no better reflection of that commitment than our Campaign Leaders,” shared Eric Guckian, President and CEO of United Way of the Greater Triangle. “The Triangle workforce is thriving, and our Campaign Leaders bring out the best in our business community by encouraging the support and volunteering that is so critical to ensuring opportunities for all who live here. Eradicating poverty can only be achieved together, and we only achieve our mission because of leaders like you.”

In total, the afternoon celebrated more than $8.5 million raised by Greater Triangle companies including top corporate campaign supporters Duke Energy, RTI International, and First Citizens Bank who all stepped up in big and important ways to support individuals and families struggling to break the cycle of poverty.
