United Way of the Greater Triangle Hosts 13th Annual MLK Day of Service Over 2,500 Volunteers Expected to Participate Across Four Counties

When: Monday, January 15, 2018. Times listed with specific projects.

Who: United Way of the Greater Triangle is mobilizing more than 2,500 volunteers in community service projects across Wake, Durham, Orange, and Johnston Counties. This will be the largest mobilization of volunteers in the Triangle on MLK Day, 2018.

What: Martin Luther King, Jr’s birthday is observed not as a day off from school and work but as a ‘Day On’ where community members come together to volunteer to benefit their community. 2018 marks the 13th year that United Way of the Greater Triangle has coordinated service projects in our four county service area. This year we are anticipating more than 2,500 volunteers working on more than 20 community projects, with more than 1,800 of those volunteers participating in one of our five signature projects.

Where: Our largest volunteer events are called ‘Signature Projects’. These Signature Projects and their locations are outlined below. A designated media contact will be available at each location to assist you with information, interviews, and photos. Click here for a complete listing of the day’s volunteer projects.
