What United Way of the Greater Triangle Does

Our Purpose:  Real Solutions, Sparked by a Community United for Transformative Change

The Triangle region, nationally ranked as “America’s Best City,” “Best Mid-sized Cities for jobs,” “Top 10 Places to Live,” and “Top 10 Happiest Metro Areas” faces invisible issues – hunger, poverty, and educational disparity.  We can and must do more to transform lives and improve our communities.

United Way of the Greater Triangle (UWGT) has committed to a new model, a collaborative approach, to become a different kind of community partner.  Working differently means:  activating our network of businesses, nonprofits, community and government leaders; funding and building collaborations; seeking and investing in innovative approaches; taking a holistic and integrated approach in order to work toward long-term, sustainable solutions.  We believe the promise of tomorrow dawns in the bold actions of today.

Our Community Action Plan includes:

Changing Generations:  Pathways to Progress for Families and Children:  A two-generational approach of supporting and building – not just funding – collaborative work that will help create, scale and sustain solutions that foster self-determination and generational success for adults and their children together.

Meeting Immediate Basic Needs:  Continued support for our most vulnerable populations in accessing their basic needs of healthcare, housing, and safety.  This component includes an initiative focused on building a food-secure community for all with an emphasis on ending childhood hunger.

We recognize we cannot create change alone.  We are committed to mobilizing the caring power of our community and fueling the innovative spirit of the Triangle that has helped this region grow.  We believe that together we all can create a legacy of achievement for generations to come.  Join us.
