Teaming for Technology

Community Impact

Community impact is improving lives by mobilizing communities to create sustained changes in community conditions. It is about people coming together around an issue of concern, taking action, and making people's lives better.

Teaming for Technology aims to help bridge the digital divide in North Carolina. T4T relies on our corporate and community partners, donors, and volunteers to achieve community impact.

2007 T4T Stats

  • T4T donated 1,249 systems in the community
  • Total Value of Equipment was almost $630,000

Assistive Technology

T4T partnered with the North Carolina Assistive Technology Program. Together 200 computers were refurbished and given to North Carolina families. Some of the computers given out were loaded with special software that reads the computer screen outloud to assist vision impaired individuals. Please see our article about these event.

T4T partnered with the The ARC of Wake County for our annual Mouse in the House holiday giveout. 60 familes received a computer from the hard work of the The ARC and T4T in mid-December.

Volunteer

Teaming for Technology relies on its volunteers to help meet the needs of the agencies we serve. In 2007, 146 T4T volunteers logged in more than 633 hours of service. This was time spent testing, repairing, cleaning, and giving out donated equipment.

T4T hosts a volunteer opportunity we call a Hardware Party every other month. Hardware parties help load equipment and give it out to local charities, schools or individuals. Volunteers test monitors, load systems, help organize and do a little cleaning at these events.

If you would like to volunteer or donate equipment, email us at t4t@unitedwaytriangle.org or call us at 919.463.5018.
