New Board Members...
Kim Saunders, president and CEO of M&F Bancorp, Inc. and Mechanics and Farmers Bank, was named to the United Way of the Greater Triangle Board of Directors. Saunders has more than 25 years of banking experience with various regulated commercial banks in a number of progressively responsible positions. She has expertise in credit administration, asset management, and economic development, as well as in developing policy and lending programs for de novo financial institutions (state banks operating for five years or less). Saunders is the second female president and CEO at M&F. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania and an honorary doctorate from Shaw University.
Since joining McGladrey & Pullen Certified Public Accountants in 2002, Keith Wallace has risen to the position of executive partner, enhancing client service and assurance quality. He now adds joining the board of directors at United Way of the Greater Triangle to his list of accomplishments. A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, and the Institute of Management Accountants, Wallace was a prior board member of United Way in Poland. Wallace earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Western Kentucky University. In addition, he completed the RSM McGladrey Advanced Business Advisor program and the Leadership Development Next Generation program.
John H. Idler, president and general manager of ABC 11 WTVD-TV, rounds out the new members of the board of directors at United Way of the Greater Triangle. Idler has overall management responsibility for ABC 11 / WTVD (a Walt Disney- owned television station) and all of its ancillary businesses, including three additional digital TV channels and abc11.com, the station’s Web site. Idler’s other board member affiliations include the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters (NCAB), UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication Foundation, North Carolina Communities in Schools (CIS), Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle (BBBS), Durham Chamber of Commerce, and Downtown Durham Incorporated (DDI). Idler also serves on the advisory board of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and as an active participant in the Downtown Durham Rotary Club. He earned his MBA from the University of New Haven, and his bachelor’s degree in history and communication from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
New United Way Employee...
Craig Chancellor, President and CEO of Triangle United Way, recently announced Jim Green as the organization’s new senior vice president of resource development.
Green’s primary duty is to collaborate with a diverse group of community leaders and staff to develop a workplace fundraising strategy that supports the mission of United Way of the Greater Triangle. Green most recently served as both volunteer director and campaign director at Pikes Peak United Way in Colorado Springs, CO. He attributes his passion for community and international service to his time in the U. S. Air Force during and after the Persian Gulf War. His community activism includes giving international relief and disaster aid to India and Indonesia. Green received his MBA from the University of Colorado this June.
