MORRISVILLE—Hundreds of volunteers in Durham, Orange and Wake counties are scheduled to participate in 36 projects as part of the Third Triangle Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 21. This is the third year Triangle United Way has collaborated with other local organizations and sponsors to make the King Holiday ‘a day ON’ across the region. The goal is to have volunteers complete 15,000 hours of community service. Since the event begin in 2005, 3,000 volunteers have volunteered 16,836 hours on 92 projects.
WHAT: 36 projects ranging from food sorting to park clean up to building renovation will be executed by volunteer groups, families and individuals of all ages. Each county has a signature project that is the largest in that county to each accommodate more than 100 volunteers.
