VOLUNTEERS OF ALL AGES NEEDED TO SERVE ON PROJECTS FOR MLK DAY OF SERVICE on JAN. 21

MORRISVILLE— This year marks the third year that Durham, Orange and Wake counties will host projects for the Triangle Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. In the past two years, nearly 3,000 volunteers have volunteered 16,836 hours on 92 projects to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by making the national holiday ‘A day On’ across the Triangle. Volunteers of all ages are needed and welcome to be a part of this event. Organizers hope the event will spur participants to continue making a difference in their community throughout the year.

Special thanks to the following sponsors who enable the Triangle to celebrate the King Holiday with “A day ON, not a day OFF”:  Triangle United Way, Rex Healthcare, NBC-17, Merck, Durham MLK Steering Committee, Home Depot, SunTrust Bank, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse, Triangle Impact, Public Allies, Duke University, The Redwoods Group, Volunteers for Youth, IBM, ABC-11, and The Corps Network.
