Triangle United Way Announces 2008 Agencies of Excellence

MORRISVILLE - Triangle United Way’s Board of Directors recently approved three nonprofit organizations serving Durham, Orange and Wake counties as the 2008 “Agencies of Excellence.” Interact, Hilltop Home, Meals on Wheels of Wake County, Inc. have each received the award for meeting 34 best practices of accountability in areas related to governance and management.

“Triangle United Way is proud to welcome three new agencies to our roster of Agencies of Excellence, said Ed Kerwin, chairman, Triangle United Way Certification Committee and Executive Director, Orange Water and Sewer for Orange County.” It is a great achievement to meet the strict standards required for this award. These agencies, along with 17 other Agencies of Excellence, provide much needed services and operate with exceptional organizational excellence in the Triangle. Our community can look to them to lead the way in caring for others.”

All Triangle United Way member agencies must be certified annually by meeting 23 essential standards of accountability. In addition to meeting the required essential standards, there are best practice standards outlined in “Triangle United Way Standards of Member Agency Accountability.”
