Report Shows Progress Made by the Raleigh/Wake County Plan to End Homelessness

RALEIGH—With nine years left to end homelessness in Wake County, the one-year report shows that the group has made great strides and may be well on their way. Formed via a partnership with Wake County, Triangle United Way, and the Wake Continuum of Care, the Raleigh/Wake County 10-Year Action Plan to Ending and Preventing Homelessness was presented in February 2005. “The achievements of the Raleigh/Wake County 10-Year plan are not only a reflection of the hard work of dedicated individuals involved with the plan, but of a community poised and ready to remove homelessness as a consequence for its citizens,” says Craig Chancellor, president and CEO of Triangle United Way. “Through partnerships in Durham, Orange and Wake counties, Triangle United Way is helping implement 10-Year Plans to prevent and end homelessness across our region. As the plans began taking shape, communities are being mobilized for change to move from managing homelessness to ending homelessness.”

The 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness in Durham will be released in spring and the 10-Year Plan in Orange County is beginning to develop its plan and will host a series of forums in the coming months.  Please contact Stan Holt at sholt@unitedwaytriangle.org or 463-5023 for information on how you can get involved in your community.
