Raleigh Students to Participate in Black History Quiz Bowl and Tech Expo
Raleigh students won’t be watching cartoons this Saturday morning. Instead, they’ll be learning about black history during a Jeopardy-style quiz bowl and finding out about career opportunities in the high-tech space.
IBM, the Triangle United Way and the Urban League of Raleigh will host a technology expo and Omega Psi Phi Black History Quiz Bowl at Fred J. Carnage Middle School on Saturday. This event will give area students – elementary to high school - an opportunity to discover how fun technology can be with special sessions on digital photography and how to build a personal computer. There will also be a several health and technology booths so students can get information on a variety of topics that interest them.
This activity is part of National Black Family Technology Awareness Week. The Triangle United Way Teaming for Technology program refurbished 20 computers that will be given to pre-selected needy families. The computers are valued at a total of $5,000.
