Triangle United Way Releases First
"Community Impact Report"
Demonstrates to donors the results of contributions
MORRISVILLE - For the first time ever, Triangle United Way (TUW) is showing its donors exactly what impact their generosity has made in the Triangle.
In its 2004 Community Impact Report, released on April 26 at the Annual Board Meeting, TUW reveals spending by county and region and discloses the dollar amounts allocated for its programs and initiatives. More importantly, the report highlights specific results achieved by Community Care Fund investments to the 280 TUW affiliated programs in the region delivered by 84 TUW member agencies.
For example, TUW invested $971,179 in local programs for children. As a result, 3,083 children were able to enroll in quality childcare facilities, and 527 handicapped children were given the specialty daycare they required. As an additional means of ensuring that the greatest impact is achieved, agencies that showed an increase in their results over the previous year were 'rewarded' with an increase in allocation. Learning Together's Child Mental Health Initiative Program achieved a 48 percent increase in the number of children achieving measurable progress in 2003, therefore the agency received an eight percent increase in United Way funding.
"Triangle United Way has made a commitment to this community to create long lasting positive changes through our investments," said Dave Benevides, newly appointed TUW Board Chairman, "Our donors should be able to see exactly where their investments are going, and we are proud to share that information with them today."
The Community Impact Report demonstrates how TUW invests more than $7 million in local health and human services programs in 2005. These programs in Durham, Orange and Wake counties will touch the lives of thousands of people in need right here in our local communities.
TUW's Community Impact Report is available to the public. Copies will be available online at www.unitedwaytriangle.org on April 27 or available for pick up at the office located at 1100 Perimeter Park Drive, Suite 112 in Morrisville.
