Triangle United Way Hires Specialist to Further Organizational
Focus on Preventing and End Homelessness

Triangle United Way hires Stan Holt in the newly created position of Community Impact Specialist for Homelessness. Holt will join the United Way staff on April 18, 2005.

"Stan's first-hand experience working with families who are homeless along with his dedication to regional change make him the perfect fit to lead Triangle United Way's focus on root causes and solutions to prevent and end homelessness," Craig Chancellor, President of Triangle United Way says.

In his new position Holt will develop and recommend the comprehensive, integrated strategies to prevent and end homelessness across the Triangle. Holt will also support the development and implementation of the 10-year plans to end homelessness in each county; provide leadership to Triangle ARCH (Alliance to Resolve Chronic Homelessness) and the Basic Needs Community Care Teams that develop plans to strategically invest donor gifts to create long-term community change.

For the past eight years, Stan served as Executive Director of Genesis Home, a transitional housing program for homeless families located in Durham. During that time, the agency grew and maintained a focus on equipping people to transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Holt was also instrumental in leading the implementation of Durham's Homeless Management Information System and remains a proponent for helping fellow agencies strengthen their case for support, whether through United Way or another funding source.
