2009 Triangle MLK Day of Service Planning Committee

Overall planning committee for the 2009 Triangle MLK Day of Service project provides support and guidance in conjunction with United Way of the Greater Triangle staff to implement region-wide volunteer engagement event to commemorate the annual King Holiday.

2009 Signature Projects

Durham County Signature Project: Volunteers will put the finishing touches on a newly-constructed reflection chapel for C.A.R.R.E by Incorporated (Case Management for AIDS/Addiction through Resources, Referrals and Education) by helping refurbish seating, completing a one of a kind mural, and painting the chapel walls. 
 
Orange County Signature Project: Volunteers will create Valentine’s Day care packages for US troops in Iraq. People are also needed to make blankets and scarves for clients of local United Way of the Greater Triangle partner agencies.
                               
Wake County Signature Project: Volunteers will help to paint two MLK Day of Service murals, as well as assemble fitness stations for the outdoor walking/fitness trail at Wake County’s YWCA.
