Burns Spearheads Loyal Contributor Society
Bill Burns, a semi-retired executive at Sun Trust Bank, has been giving to United Way for the past 50 years. Initially his gifts were to the United Way in Greensboro, and upon his move to the Triangle in 1960, they have all come to the Triangle United Way.
“I think it is important to give back to the community and to help local people in all areas of need,” Bill explained. A Tocqueville Society member who has given at the leadership level for the past nine years, he remarked, “I know when I make my gift that it will be put to good use.”
Bill is one a many people whose loyalty to the United Way cause has earned them recognition as a Loyal Contributor. United Way of the Greater Triangle would like to recognize all of its donors who have made pledges and payments to any United Way across America for 10 years or more. They have helped advance the common good by providing the leadership and resources needed for permanent change.
United Way of the Greater Triangle plans to recognize Loyal Contributors in future publications and events. Please inform us if you have been giving more than 10 years so we can include you in this very special recognition society with our deepest appreciation for your steadfast support!
