Triangle United Way Tocqueville Society Announces Challenge Fund Grant

To commemorate Triangle United Way’s 10th Anniversary, Tocqueville Society members have established a Challenge Fund Grant that will match contributions from community and business leaders joining the Tocqueville Society for the first time.

Tocqueville Society members annually contribute $10,000 or more to Triangle United Way. Through the Challenge Fund, first-time donors enroll into a four-year plan that offers full Tocqueville Society membership to individuals that give at least $5,000 in the first year, and commit to “stepping up” to reach $10,000 within four years.  Fifty percent of the gift must be directed to Triangle United Way’s Community Care Fund which supports 177 programs and services delivered by certified member agencies in Durham, Orange, and Wake counties.

“As the Triangle continues to see significant population growth, we are seeing a proportional growth in the needs for health and human service programs,” said Tocqueville Society Chairman Mark Ascolese of Ascolese Enterprises, Inc.  "Leaders in our community are combining their vision and resources through the Tocqueville Society to ensure those needs are met and that people get the help they need."

Grants for the Challenge Fund are provided by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, Capitol Broadcasting and Golden Corral.  The companies are led by Tocqueville Society members Bob Greczyn, Jim Goodmon and James Maynard.
