Tocqueville Society Holds Event
at Ingram's Garage

Tocqueville Society members and their guests were treated to an Evening at the Garage on November 6 to tour a unique and elegant venue – The Ingram Collection.  The Durham venue features the most extensive collection of rare and prize winning Porsche street-ready cars in the Southeast.

The collection is the passion of former GlaxoSmithKline CEO, Bob Ingram.  Ingram, his wife Jeanie and sons Cameron and Rory entertained Society members with fine food, wine and stories of the history and glories of each car.  Ingram, a Tocqueville Society member, also spoke to the gathering about the importance of giving back part of what he and his family have been fortunate enough to receive in their lives.  He encouraged guests to continue their support for Triangle United Way as an effective and efficient way to meet the needs of our growing community.

The Ingram Collection features limited edition Porsches that range from a classic 1957 speedster to a present day Carrera GT super car.  The venue itself is a restored garage with a warm brick interior and elegant lighting.  Some of the highlights of the collection include Porsche’s first super car, the 959, and a 1959 Carrera GT that won numerous race campaigns in Europe.  There are 24 Porsche vehicles on permanent exhibit with additional cars on a rotating basis.

The Tocqueville Society hosted its annual Fall Gala to thank members for their generosity and commitment to helping people in need.  Tocqueville Society members are a group of influential individuals who make annual contributions of $10,000 or more to ensure our community remains strong, vibrant and healthy.

The Tocqueville Society has grown significantly this year with a 27% increase in membership.  There are more than 100 members of the Society who lend their time, talent and treasury to support the work of Triangle United Way and its 81 member agencies.
