WakeMed Health & Hospitals has a longstanding history of supporting the Triangle United Way. Just as they have expanded and enhanced their healthcare services within the area over the years, they have also enhanced their level of commitment to the Triangle United Way by exploring creative ways to appeal to all employee groups throughout
their campaigns.
While all employee groups have continued to participate in the campaign, there is one group that deserves special recognition-the women of WakeMed. These women have made their presence known through their consistent acts of volunteerism, leadership and monetary donations. Several women have served on the Triangle United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council Steering Committee, and WakeMed has been the premier sponsor for the last two Women’s Leadership Council Luncheons.
In 2007, under the auspices of women leadership volunteers like Judy O’Neal and Judy Orser, the women’s leadership campaign experienced commendable growth and success. They had a total of 105 women leadership donors and raised over $168,000 towards WakeMed’s overall campaign.
