Excellence--Tocqueville Society

Ernst & Young

Ernst & Young employees are brought together by the belief that every person, company and community needs help to achieve their potential. This social responsibility for local communities drives the partnership between United Way and Ernst & Young. Our combined effort is to help people in need achieve their full potential through programs and services funded by the Triangle United Way Campaign.

In 2007, Ernst & Young ran a model corporate campaign focusing on Leadership Giving with excellence in their Tocqueville Society Campaign. The Tocqueville Society recognizes Leadership Givers making annual gifts of $10,000 or more.

Managing Partner Bob Thorburn and Campaign Leaders within the company modeled Best Practices: with an exceptional Kickoff that stressed the importance of the Community Care Fund. They hosted agency speakers and promoted United Way funded programs and services to increase Tocqueville giving by 45% with a 65% increase in
per capita employee giving.

The Ernst & Young Campaign utilized group solicitation and targeted retiree giving within the overall Tocqueville Campaign. We are pleased to recognize their outstanding efforts with the 2008 Tocqueville Society Award for Excellence.
