Most Innovative
Bayer CropScience
Innovation can be defined as acting on creative ideas to achieve specific and tangible results. Most of the things that Bayer CropScience did in their 2007 campaign weren’t unique to what we frequently request companies consider each year. However, it was their creative implementation, and sheer number and scale of these techniques that
qualified them as Triangle United Way’s Most Innovative Campaign.
Rather than a standard kickoff meeting, they served a delicious breakfast and had each department choose a theme to demonstrate their Team Spirit (which included singing hippies, bikers, sports fans, etc.) and a game of United Way Jeopardy, resulting in one of the most fun and educational kickoffs in United Way history! They also had a
Golf Tournament, Community Impact Tour, Lunch & Learns, Volunteer projects, a Leadership drive, Silent Auctions, a Retiree’s drive, a Technology Donation Day, and a Field Day. Participation in each activity earned departments points in their competition for their coveted Charity Cup which is awarded each year to the department that is most
involved in their United Way campaign.
Needless to say, all of these activities required a great deal of effort and organization to implement, so they divided up their large campaign committee into working subcommittees for each event. If every company that supports Triangle United Way were to add just one of these innovative ideas to their campaigns, it seems safe to say a great
many more community needs would be met each year.
