One Way vs. United Way

One Way: a child care center

United Way: a child care center, scholarships for emergencies, resource guides, flexible child care for homeless families, peace of mind for working mothers.

One Way: a crisis hotline

United Way: a crisis hotline, immediate support, an advocate at the hospital and in court, financial counseling, last minute child care, help to be a better mother, a smile, hope for tomorrow

One Way: a list of phone numbers

United Way: a list of phone numbers, a counselor, a volunteer to drive you to the AIDS clinic, a clubhouse for the mentally ill, hospice care, sexual response teams, doctors treating homeless grandfathers

One Way: an after school program

United Way: an after school program, a hug every day, an adult role model, homework help, a safe place to be with friends, applause, a chance for a better life

One Way: a hot meal every day

United Way: a hot meal, a hearty laugh together, an exercise class, a ride to the doctor’s office, a roof patch, the right medications, more healthy years at home
