Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC), winner of the 2005 Spirit of North Carolina Award for Campaign Excellence, celebrated its most successful employee campaign ever. Led by Vice President of HIPAA and Information Compliance Officer, Harry Reynolds, BCBSNC employees pledged $682,213, exceeding their goal of $600,000 by more than 13 percent. Employee donations to the Community Care Fund increased by 8 percent, totaling over $500,000. Leadership donors (donors who contribute at least $1,200) increased their giving by more than 10 percent over 2005 donations, contributing $426,483.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina provides strong corporate support for the United Way campaign. Management expresses this support by holding over 50 employee meetings to teach employees about how Triangle United Way’s Community Care Fund improves our community. Employees also learned about the impact of their gifts by participating in Community Impact tours and visiting a number of Triangle United Way supported agencies. These practices, in addition to several special events including a “Blue Idol” singing competition, truly make the Blue Cross United Way campaign a model for success.
