John Avery Boys and Girls Club
The mission of the John Avery Boys & Girls Club is to “enable all young people, especially those who need us most,to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.” Led by Executive Director Floyd Laisure, the John Avery Boys & Girls Club of Durham had a 100% employee participation in TUW’s successful 2007 Campaign. At an employee luncheon, Floyd encouraged his staff to view the “bigger picture of agency services and remember that many different agencies work together to meet clients’needs.”
Evidently, his message resonated with everyone in attendance. While TUW experienced an overall 5.5% increase, John Avery Boys & Girls Clubs of Durham led the way with employee donations that were 77% greater in 2007 than those of the previous year. Contributions to the Community Care Fund were 81% of the total raised.
